I have to say that this techonolgy is EXTREMELY frustrating.
All I'm trying to do is create a master page with a table in it. Just to test this Visual Web Developer 2005 Express. My goodness......you'd think I'm trying to create the world.
9 error messages.........If VWD has so many errors from inserting it's OWN code, how does anyone get anything done?
Could you post the errors? Perhaps you are doing something terribly wrong... Master pages with tables should be supported by this technology.
Yes, so that people viewing your thread may know and may help you too.
Hi
You would think it was very simple.
Create new site, create master page, create page and use master page as template, add table.........F5
If I am doing something terribly wrong then I should not be allowed next to a computer......THAT might be true too.
It's so frustarting I have decide not to bother using that program. It's also incredibly slow so not very happy overall.
I will redo it again at some stage and post errors.
did you check the tutorial video here?

There is a minimum physical memory requirement for asp.net 2.0 application. In my part, I am using 256 MB of RAM but still, its quite slow but I can still manage to create some application using it. So you can consider its memory when it comes to speed.
I feel for you, I've installed the kit over 5 times and just now I'm begining to get going. I wrote a post to this forum and it got rejected as being to ambiguos and did not make sense...
Anywho: once we get it working we just might enjoy the technology....
another frustrated buddy...
In my experience every program has a level of frustration. But once you get over the learning curve it gets much easier, because you know how to deal with everything. Sorry to hear about your troubles, I'm running into some of my own. Hang in there, you'll get it eventually.

I totally agree at first VWD can be confusing and not very user friendly. Microsoft's documentation should come with a translation class at first as well, of course other then this site. I really began picking up the .net technology when I removed the IDE and began studying the code without the IDE. Most of the guru's would aggree this the best way to start out. Pick up ASP.net 2.0 unleashed by Stephen Walther and you won't be disappointed he breaks everything down and gives plenty of examples of why and how things work. Then once you get your feet a little more wet with that all the wizzards and code generators will make much more sense.
Here is another tutorial on master pages

Best of luck
